The New York Weightlifting Academy made the journey down to Brooklyn this past weekend to compete at the 3rd Annual Brooklyn Barbell Open. Only two of our athletes competed, but it turned out to be a great day of competition for both.
Kimmy competed in the 53kg class and took third place overall! She consistently continues to make progress on her lifts and tied her competition record, as well as her previous clean and jerk records.
Justin competed in the 77kg class and broke all of his outstanding competition records, going 5/6 lifts and boosting his competition total by 7kg.
Afterwards, the team enjoyed some well-deserved post-competition brews and food at the Smorgasburg Food Market. Thanks to all who came out to cheer us on and assist us in the warm-up room, and a big shout-out to our friend Viviana Podhaiski of Everyday Lifters for spending the day with us and capturing great moments both on and off the platform!
